The best part being a college student is probably the awesomely extended breaks we get over the winter and in the summer. There are some downtimes during these vacations like going through boredom, feeling unproductive, or ending up strapped for cash right when you want to do some holiday shopping.
Eventually one will get tired or bored by these vacations without doing any productive things. But there are plenty of opportunities to make the most of your time off from classes.

Get a seasonal job
Whether it retails, agencies, consultancies or tutoring of children there are plenty of jobs that are looking to hire people for the holiday season. Try to make use of these opportunities and try to make something productive of it. You can also volunteer is some of the NGO’s and help people grow with your skills. Start to toss out broken or damaged college or school supplies. Compile loose documents into one place and recycle ones you don’t need. Go digital with scans and photos, it helps you to stay more organized. Start cleaning your room and arrange everything accordingly including your study table. Try to stay away from the junk and mess when your college reopens. Get rid of the old notes or things that you don’t need and organize your things for the future.
Take a short road trip
If leaving the country—or even the state—seems a little too ambitious for winter break, consider taking a shorter trip around where you live. Go for a destination which is a few hours away and plan a day or two to spend there. Try to take a friend or two to make the trip a memorable one.
